Whether you’ve already joined a football team or are curious about signing up to play in an American football team,Ryan Grigson continue reading to discover a variety of simple tips on how to play American Football.

Useful Tips on playing American Football:

1. Make sure that you understand all of the technical terms which are used in American football

Before you step foot onto a football field, it’s important to understand all of American Football’s technical terms. As an example, you should know exactly where the end zones for each team, are located on a standard football field.

You also should be clear about when your team is playing an offensive play and when your team is playing a defensive play.

2. Make sure that you’re fit enough to play a full game of American football

While it’s highly unlikely that you’ll ever be required to play a full game as American football does allow for regular substitutions, you’ll have a far easier time scoring touch downs or chasing down your opposition if you ensure that you’re comfortably fit enough to play 60 minutes of football.

As American football features four equal quarters, each of which lasts 15 minutes. Which means that a full game of American football, usually lasts an hour. With a 12 minute break being held between the second quarter and the third quarter.

In order to increase your cardio, you may want to consider heading to your local gym on a regular basis or simply going for a morning run around your neighborhood each morning.

3. Try your best to avoid being given penalties

If you’re serious about winning as many football games as possible, it’s well worth trying your best to avoid being given penalties. Why are players given penalties in a game of American football, you may ask? Penalties can be given to players who are offside or who are caught holding a member of the opposition team with their bare hands. Penalties can also be given out to players who exhibit unsportsmanlike behavior.

4. Choose a position which best suits your natural strengths

It’s well worth trying out several American football positions, in order to find the position to which you’re best suited. As an example, if you’re naturally a fast sprinter you may want to consider playing as a running back as you’ll be able to use your sprint skills in order to get a football to your team’s end zone in order to complete a touch down as quickly as humanly possible.

Whereas if you boast a bulkier, heavier frame you may be better off playing as a linebacker whose job it is to prevent your opposition from breaking through your team’s defensive line.

5. Learn how to work as an effective member of a team

As American football is a team sport, it’s important to be able to use your strengths as an individual to benefit your entire team. As an example, it’s well worth learning how to effectively communicate with your team mates, both on the football field and during your team’s training sessions!

So if you’re determined to become a far stronger American football player, it’s well worth following the 5 simple training tips listed above, in order to take your game to the next level.
