If you’re new to the world of collecting silver and gold coins and would like to discover some of the first coins which you should add to your coin collection, simply continue reading. In order to learn about some of the best collector coins on the market.

The first coin which you should purchase is a 1 oz silver eagle. Which is considered the industry standard, when it comes to silver coins. If you want to purchase silver coins, which you won’t have any trouble selling the future, it’s well worth choosing to invest in silver eagles. As silver eagles are among the most sought after coins in the world and are always in high demand.

If you’re on a budget and want to start a coin collection, your best option will be to purchase your very first 1 oz silver eagle. Which you should be able to purchase for around $20 USD. You’ll find that silver eagles are a lot cheaper to purchase than gold coins such as collectible South African krugerrands or gold eagles.

The silver eagle is produced by the United States Mint and was first produced in 1986. On one side of the silver eagle you’ll find Lady Liberty, standing infant of the Capitol. While on the other side of the coin you’ll find several eagles. A male eagle which is soaring through the sky, carrying an olive branch and a mother eagle which is guarding a nest full of chicks.

The gold eagle:

Once you’ve added silver eagles to your coin collection, your next move should be to invest in gold eagles. Which were also released by the United States Mint in 1986 and also feature images of Lady Liberty on one side and eagles on the reverse side. For which the gold eagle coins are named. One site where you can purchase gold eagles is Lear Financial Capital.

South African Krugerrands:

If you plan to collect international coins as well as coins which were minted in the US, you may want to invest in purchasing South African Krugerrands. They were originally produced in South Africa in 1967 in order to help market the South African gold industry overseas and to bolster the South African Mint. By 1980 the Krugerrand comprised 80% of the collectible gold coins in the world. Keep in mind that the first South African Krugerrand was produced 21 years before the US Mint released their silver eagle and gold eagle.

Today Krugerrands are extremely collectible items due to their age, rarity and history. If you enjoy collecting gold coins, it’s a great idea to purchase at least one gold Krugerrand for your growing coin collection.

The 1 oz silver Canadian maple leaf:

Another silver coin which you may want to invest in is the 1 oz silver Canadian maple leaf which is produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. As it holds its value just as well as the ever popular silver eagle. If you were wondering, yes there is also a 1 oz Canadian gold maple leaf, which is available for purchase.

All of the coins which are listed above are highly collectible and are wise choices if you’re ready to start investing in precious metals and collectible coins in particular.
