For my old colleague at work Pietro Triassi Montreal was this city which he used to constantly rave abut, telling me how amazing its was and how one day he was planning to retire there, back to the city were he grew up. Now I have to be honest, I have always been a fan of the USA, and never really entertained the idea of going to stay in or live in Canada. As it happened there was a conference on in Toronto and so I decided that after the weekend was over I’d spend a couple of days traveling up north towards Montreal and Quebec, I guess Pietro’s voice was in my mind.
As it happens, I absolutely adored the trip and the country, so much so that I am actively trying to find a way in which I can move there full time, and here is exactly why.
Natural Wonder
Any country which is as big as Canada is always going to have a wealth of natural splendor but there is something truly remarkable up in Canada that just swept me away. The air feels cleaner and purer, the mountains look amazing, the rivers and the glaciers are spellbinding and up in New Brusnwick and places like that, the natural landscape just sweeps you away.
The People
As much as I did love the USA I never really had an affinity for the people, I never hated them, but there were many who I found to be quite brash and a little over the top. In Canada however that stereotype about them being like the friendly cousins is so right and so far all of the people I have met there have been utterly amazing, so sweet and kind, it is so endearing.
Lifestyle
The lifestyle in Canada is also something which has really brought me in they always seem to be busy with sporting events of outdoor affairs and it certainly seems like a real up and at them sort of country. Of course I am not speaking for every Canadian, I am sure that there are lazy or more relaxed people, but in the main what I have seen so far has been nothing short of exciting and inspiring and I really can’t wait to get up there.
Living
And the final point to make is that from schools to healthcare, transport to cultural activities, everything here just seems to work so well and that is another thing which I am looking forward to enjoying if I am able t make the move up there.
There is a lot of challenges before me if I do wish to migrate to Canada, as you know desire will only get your foot in the door. Thankfully the country has a number plans which can get me in and so I will keep my fingers crossed, and who knows, perhaps Pietro and I will cross paths again one day!
