We are living in truly strange times at the moment with so much of the world on lockdown and that is naturally going to be very challenging in terms of our health. Dr. Curtis Cripe is someone who has been speaking about this urgency for people to look after their health during these tough times, and he knows all about the challenges that exist around mental and physical health, and the dangers that come with being unhealthy both in body and mind. To ensure that we stay healthy it is important to remember the risks, and this is exactly why you should be looking to maintain good physical and mental health.
Burning Calories
Something which will be very important to bear in mind right now is that you are not burning anywhere near the calories that you would do on a normal day. Even if we take exercise out of the equation, on any given day you are likely to be climbing stairs, walking around and burning calories all day long. Being stuck indoors means that you will not be doing that and this is why it is essential that you find the way in which you can burn some additional calories.
Eating
Feeling down and trapped at home is a perfect recipe for comfort food and unfortunately if that happens then you are only going to end up gaining more weight. This will not only see you pile the pounds on but you will also find yourself feeling down and that is not going to help your mental welling either. Make a conscious effort to only have one day per week where you don’t stick to a healthy diet, and ensure that on the other days you are strict with what you are eating.
Mental Wellbeing
It doesn’t matter how mentally strong you think that you may be, this is a time that will test us all and it is absolutely essential that you recognize that you may be heavily affected by what we are going through. There is so much which the brain has to deal with right now, from not seeing loved ones to not enjoying social time, not to mention the amount of hours being trapped at home, this is a very difficult time for everyone. If you are alone in the home it can be tough, if you are with people it can be tough, this is why it is essential that you are keeping a watchful eye on your mental well being.
The truth is that nobody knows how long we are going to be on lockdown or whether or not there will be a second lockdown after things ease up a little. This is why it is essential that you stay strong and keep yourself in great condition so that you are in the position that you need to be in order to get through this.
